Emoji Copy & Paste

Click the emoji you want. It goes straight to your clipboard, and you paste it the way you paste anything else: Ctrl+V on Windows, Cmd+V on Mac, or long-press then Paste on a phone.

An emoji is text, not a picture, so it travels through any box that accepts typing — captions, bios, file names, spreadsheet cells, commit messages. What it looks like is up to the device showing it: the same character is drawn differently by Apple, Google, Samsung and Microsoft, which is why a face can read as friendlier on one phone than another. A blank box or a question mark means the receiving device has no font for that character, usually because it was added in a newer Unicode release than the device supports. Nothing is broken and the character is intact — it will render once that device updates.
